# Soft Fork

* To clarify, I think **it is good that there are friendly forks** of Forgejo like **[Fordj](https://fordj.org)**, for whatever reason. Some of them may be designed to exist in the **long run**. Others, like Fordj, may be meant to be **temporary**. Forgejo is going towards **federation of instances**. Having an **ecosystem of friendly forks is a similar road to federated development**.
* In essence Fordj or other forks are no different than **a long lived pull request**.
